An Extraordinary Life Starts With 3 Ordinary Questions

Posted on Posted in Self-Improvement

Think about this question for a moment. Are you living an extraordinary life? Do you know someone who is? Who comes to mind? Many people may think of religious leaders, business leaders, and mentors who seem to have life figured out. They live amazing lives. They seem to have life by the horns and they get what they want and need out of it. These people are full of energy, excitement, courage, and joy, they have qualities and abilities to be admired. But are they the people that will make your life extraordinary? No.

They can’t make your decisions for you, they can’t make you follow them, and you may not want to follow their lead. The only person who can ever lead your life to an amazing place is yourself. People that live life in this way have discovered this and have learned to answer 3 simple questions to make it happen. Let’s talk about how they do this.

Determine To Be The Leader Of Your Life

When you determine to be the leader of your life, you can look to people who have succeeded and found that elusive joy and fullness as your guide. But they will never be the leader of your life. You have to determine to be that person. No one else will or can. Even as a believer in Jesus Christ, he can’t force you to make choices. Only you can do this.

Begin To Lead Your Own Life

Have you ever noticed that wherever you go there you are? You can’t get away from yourself. You can surround yourself with amazing people or damaging people. You can pray to God and read self-help books, surround yourself with amazing mentors and do exceptional things. Or you can lead a destructive life by not taking charge of your life. But no matter what happens, the buck stops with you.

You are always the one making the choices. So if you want to lead an extraordinary life, it starts with making wise choices and asking wise questions.

But here’s the secret to making it happen. It won’t matter if you don’t take action and make the right choices to move in the direction that the wise counsel is giving you. You have to become an expert on leading your own life. Why would anyone ever follow you if you don’t even know how to follow your own lead? This is where it begins. Let’s talk about how to make this happen.

Here’s How

People who are expert leaders of themselves have found the answers to three unbelievably simple yet extraordinary questions. And they surround themselves with people that are wiser than them. The first of these simple yet extraordinary questions is this: Where am I? They take the time to clearly answer this question. Many people who have extraordinary lives have answered this question and they may not even know.

Here’s the key for each of these 3 questions. They need to be answered in the context of 7 Critical Areas of life.

  • Finances
  • Work
  • Relationships
  • Emotions
  • Education
  • Health/Physical Life
  • Spiritual Life

When you know where you are in each of these 7 Critical Areas of life you can begin to truly lead yourself. The advice you here now has a soil to grow in. The guidance God is giving you has a foundation you can see and build on. As a result, you can move to the next of the 3 questions.

Where Do I Want To Go?

No progress can be made in your life without knowing the foundation in which you are building on. This is where extraordinary change can happen. If the foundation is solid, you can begin to build on it in amazing ways with answers to this question in the 7 Critical Areas of your life. Even if the foundation isn’t very solid, as an expert builder of your life, you can answer where do I want to go? and begin to repair the damage.

With this question, you can consciously choose to look at your life and determine the direction you want to go.

Once you answer this question you don’t stop. If you want to get to be where you want to be, more is required of you. You need to take action and move forward. No one else will do it for you. In order to do this, you have to ask the third question: How do I get there?

How Do I Get There?

Once you build a foundation with the questions, Where am I? and Where do I want to go?, you can begin the journey of understanding how to get there.

Everything up to this point only leads to an intellectual exercise. Without answering How do I get there? and following through, one’s life will not become extraordinary. The combination of these 3 questions and taking action leads to the change that is necessary to build an exceptional life.

In no way is this easy to do, but it is a simple process. The process will get you to a place of understanding and direction you can use. With the addition of accountability and wise guidance to create goals, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish.

Extraordinary People Never Stop Building An Amazing Life

Extraordinary people don’t rest after these questions have been answered one time. They don’t stop after their goals have been accomplished. They start over again, they pray about and reflect on their lives and begin working through the questions again to continue living the life that they want.

To be extraordinary, determine where you are in the 7 Critical Areas of life, where you want to go, and how you are going to get there. Through all of this, begin to surround yourself with accountability and wisdom to help you accomplish what you have determined to do in your life. Do this relentlessly and repeatedly and watch what happens to your life. Don’t be surprised when you look back and see you are living an extraordinary life.
